Pennsport is an older Philadelphia neighborhood close to the Delaware River between Front and 5th Streets, from Washington Avenue to Snyder.

Pennsport was originally developed during the colonial period and is an architecturally varied neighborhood. The neighborhood is thought to be one of the oldest parts of South Philly.

Pennsport is the home to the famous Mummers – where the roots of the Mummer’s Parade began in 1901.

More than a century later Pennsport is still home to the Mummers. The huge New Year’s Day Mummer’s Parade travels up South Broad Street to City Hall, but the annual “Two Street” party still occurs.

Fitler Square is a Philadelphia City Park running along Pine Street, between 23rd and 24th Streets in Center City. “Fitler Square” is also the name of the neighborhood surrounding the square. The square was originally named for the late 19th Century Philadelphia Mayor – Edward Henry Fitler.

The neighborhood is a delightful little spot, quietly residential with beautiful old townhomes, but with it’s proximity to South street and Rittenhouse Square, residents and visitors have a fabulous selection of both eateries and boutiques to dine and shop in.
